The Squirrel Atop the Hill
Transcript
My apartment's got a kitchen. The kitchen has a window. And the window overlooks a hill.
And yesterday morning, as I waited for my coffee to brew, I looked out the window and what did I see?
I saw a squirrel atop that hill.
And there was something… off… about this squirrel.
What was it?
What was it?
Ah, yes, it's tail.
Now, usually a squirrel’s tails is this bushy, pulsating appendage that sends shimmering waves of twitchy, anxious energy up-and-down, down-and-up the length of it.
And it’s that tail that separates the squirrel from it’s rodent brethren.
A rat, a mouse, and a hamster, they’re all nervous and excitable just like the squirrel,
But what they don’t have… is that tail.
That’s the squirrel’s telltale sign.
So this squirrel outside my kitchen window, had a tail that… well… it just laid there… limp.
It was all flattened, and fanned out down the slope of the hill
And as I looked at this squirrel, it reminded of something.
What was it?
What was it?
Ah yes, a wedding I’d recently attended
A wedding where the father delivered the bride-to-be down the aisle to the groom-in-wait
And with a nervous and excitable energy, the bride-to-be reached out and clasped the hand of the groom-in-wait
And they turned and ascended the steps and came to a halt atop the altar
And the maid-of-honor broke her rank with the bridesmaids and walked over to the bride-to-be with a blushing face
And she gathered up the bridal train made of net and of lace
And she flattened and fanned it out down slope of the altar steps
Boy, I can get a little nutty before I’ve had my morning coffee. Heheh.
